An Irish marathon website www.athenryac.com has a featured blog on Malcolm's book A Marathon Odyssey. An avid runner and discerning reader, Mick Rice says he can "absolutely confirm that (A Marathon Odyssey) is a great read."
Malcolm is training to run an ultra-marathon in late September. More details to come. He is in the process of finishing his draft of 100 Marathon Club, which will be published in November by The Experience Publishers.
In his travels, he is keeping his ear close to the ground for interesting stories from the running world, the literary world, the literary running world and the… well, you get the picture! If you have a book proposal, or a full-fledged manuscript, and you run into Malcolm at a marathon event, pick him up, dust him off and then pitch your story! We're seeking great tales, well told.
Barbara continues her association with Kingston WritersFest, and as events coordinator for the festival, planned a launch party for June 30th that was attended by The Hon. Peter Milliken, MP and Speaker of the House of Commons, and His Worship Harvey Rosen, mayor of the City of Kingston. As managing editor here at EP, Barbara was thrilled to mix with local writing royalty Merilyn Simonds and Wayne Grady , as well as authors Mark Sinnett, Shelley Tanaka, Violette Malan and Vicki Delany. Barbara plans to attend the August 15th Scene of the Crime Festival on Wolfe Island, the 'birthplace of Canadian crime writing.' The festival is a full day of celebration of the mystery genre, it writers and its aficionados. According to organizer Violette Malan, there is no group of readers more discriminating in terms of facts, continuity and plausibility than readers of mystery books.
