Malcolm Anderson lives in Yarker, Ontario Canada. He grew up in New Zealand. He took up running in 2006 to get into better shape. He has since run over 30 marathons and ultras, including the 90km Comrades Ultramarathon in South Africa, the double at the Connemara International in Ireland, and the Brathay 10 Marathons in 10 days Challenge in the Lake District in England. His most important event was a 5km Wolfe Island race which he ran with his sons Callum and Jack. He has his sights set on running many more marathons, longer distances, including more trail running, a 100-miler in March 2010, qualifying for the Boston Marathon, and not getting a disabling, showstopper injury. His next book, ‘The Passion of the Long Distance Runner - Endure, Inspire, Transform’, available in early 2010, is about runners who have completed 100 marathons and ultras or more. Malcolm interviewed over 120 runners from around the world for the book. The stories are inspirational to runners and non-runners alike. They reaffirm the benefits of long distance running, and the belief that anything is possible if you set your sights on the goals that are important to you. Malcolm is also founder of Run for Tomorrow, a global charity event that will be held in 2012, in which an international marathon team will be running a continuous non-stop relay of the marathon distance around the world. When he is not doing all things running, he is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. Malcolm has also published two collections of short humorous pieces on a range of subjects. He is the author of The Cayman Islands Marathon Experience (2007) and A Marathon Odyssey (2008) and is currently working on two novels. To contact Malcolm email him at: runplacesmalcolm@gmail.com |
